Brescia Province
This northern Italian province is part of the larger
region of Lombardy and is especially well known for
industrial manufacturing and trade. Indeed it is the
third largest industrial area in all of Italy and has
been an important centre of manufacturing and commerce
since ancient times.
Other major employers in the province include banking
and agriculture. Local agriculture is largely focused
on grapes and olives.
Brescia is the capital city, the same name as the province,
and is the largest provincial city with about 200,000
residents. Locals and visitors alike enjoy relaxing
in the piazzas and enjoying the local food. The architecture
of the city is a testament to how many times this area
has been conquered by other nations and city-states.
Local manufacturing specialties include fine cast parts,
and other precision machine tools. The castle on the
edge of town provides a full panoramic view of the city
and the rivers that flow through it.
