Rimini Province
This coastal province of Emilia Romagna is known as
the Riviera of the Adriatic.
There are little towns dotting the coastline. Since
being “discovered” by other Europeans in the 18th century,
the coastal towns are full of resorts and sunbathers
during the summer months.
The immediate interior has rolling hills that make
this a prime strip of agricultural activity.
The Western part of the province is rather mountainous,
and you’ll find little villages alongside mountain streams.
The capital city of Rimini has been a port and traffic
hub for thousands of years, and marked the end of the
several ancient road systems, including the Flaminia
Road that is still marked today by the Gate of Augustus.
Quite a few famous artists and luminaries have come
from this city of many cultures.
There are many famous homes to tour, including the
Villa Mussolini and the Villa Franceschi that now holds
a museum of contemporary art.
