Perhaps more people have visited the centrally-located
region of Lazio without knowing than just about any
other place on Earth.
It is home to Rome and over 50% of the region’s population,
but this coastal area is much more than just the Eternal
City.
Nearly 5 million people call Lazio home, though the
surrounding countryside is relatively rural. Home to
the 3,000-year-old capital of such a diverse country,
over 70% of the residents are employed in the services
sector including tourism as well as banking and business.
The area makes ideal farmland and is home to much agriculture.
There are hundreds of estate vineyards, citrus and olive
groves, and milk production in the rural areas of the
Roman province and the other three that make up the
Lazio region.
There are a great many fishing villages along the 100km
Tyrrhenian coast that make up the region’s westerly
border.
A great deal of history actually litters the area.
There is ample opportunity to view a wide range of architecture,
the sites of antiquity and museums throughout the Lazio
provinces.
