Rome - Roma
Words seem insufficient to describe the beauty of the "eternal city".
Crossed by the Tiber River, it is truly a treasure trove of artistic and architectural
marvels. The entire city is a veritable open-air museum with churches, fountains,
palazzi, archeological sites and all sorts of monuments.
Founded traditionally on April 21 in the year 753 BC on seven hills, the historical
center is a mosaic of more than 2,800 years of history. Its enormous cultural
wealth has led it to be inserted in the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.
The presence of Vatican City, the heart of Roman Catholicism, adds to the enormous
cultural appeal emanated by Roma.
Indeed, it is one of the most visited cities in the world, with millions wandering
its streets each year. All of these visitors make of Roma a cosmopolitan city,
though it has been this way since its founding.
Perhaps the overwhelming presence of such history and culture in such a bustling,
vibrant metropolis is what truly attracts visitors and what truly makes this
city great.
