Bergamo Province
The province of Bergamo is located in the central
part of the Lombardia Region of Northern Italy. It
is densely populated and contains over a million residents.
The southern part of the province has a relatively
flat plain where much agriculture takes place. Mt.
Cocoa rises in the Orobian Alps to the north and is
the tallest peak in the province.
There are several mineral springs in the area, including
the famous San Pellegrino water that visitors and locals
alike take advantage of.
There are also several wines that are regionally famous
and very often paired with the local cuisine when visiting
the local cafés.
Bergamo, is namesake capital city of the province and
is also the largest, though a large proportion of the
population continues to live in the mountain villages
that typify the region’s country setting.
Being so close to the Alps, the area also serves as
a stopping off point for those continuing north for
skiing trips.
