Vercelli Province
This small and mountainous province in the northwestern
Italian province of Piedmont ( Piemonte in Italian),
is conveniently located midway between Milan and Turin
on a sub-alpine high plain, making it an ideal stopover
point for motor or train travellers.
The Vercelli province itself is distinctive for having
two sections connected by a north/south sliver of territory,
separating Biella from Novara. The area is well known
for its rice fields and is part of the agricultural
region that produces the majority of Italy’s crop.
In the very north of the Vercelli province there are
mountains where you'll find winter sport activities.
The capital city, also named Vercelli, is one of the
oldest cities still standing in Northern Italy, founded
around 600BCE. There is a great deal of Roman architecture
in the city, since it was only half ruined when the
Empire fell. Aside from tourism, the modern city is
largely known for its agricultural processing and manufacture
of agricultural hardware for worldwide export.
