Stresa
Stresa is an international tourist center located at the center of Lago Maggiore,
the second largest lake in Italy.
Its breathtaking natural landscapes have earned it a special place in the heart
of tourists from around the world, starting with upper class English tourists
who discovered the town in the middle of the 1800s.
Today, its attractions include beaches, houses and villas in Liberty style
and a variety of cultural events.
Two of the most important squares in the town are Piazza dell'Imbarcadero and
Piazza Marconi, symbols of Stresa's vibrant life. It is here that the important
International Center for Rosminian Studies is located. This center focuses on
the ideology and teachings of the famous priest-philosopher, Antonio Rosmini.
The town also boasts a world famous Conference Center, various important churches
and an elegant zoo.
Tourists enjoy visiting the Borromean Islands, located off the coast of Stresa
and connected to the town via ferryboat. Even a simple walk along the town's
coastline, with its palm trees, flower gardens and majestic hotels can be enchanting.
