Medio Campidano Province
On the southwestern Sardinian ( Sardegna ) coast ,
Medio Campidano province was created in 2005 from the
formerly larger Province of Cagliari.
Like much of rural Sardinia, the province is rather
rural and sparsely populated. Agriculture is one of
the main occupations in the area, though the area has
been known for mineral extraction for centuries.
The Costa Verde on the Mediterranean Sea is a very
secluded place where travellers will find a great many
beaches to relax.
The province of Medio Campidano has two capital cities,
Villacidro and Sanluri. Both towns are rather small
agricultural towns with much of the surrounding area
covered in fields, vineyards and orchards.
The area nearby Villacidro is notable for its unique
crystalline deposits.
The town of Sanluri is a sleepy, little mining village
that is home to a trademark 13th century castle that
was rebuilt after damage in World War One as well as
an important bus exchange site.
