Lucca Province
This province, located on Italy's west coast, is located
in Northern Tuscany.
Though not yet found by masses of tourists, the Lucca
province has become a summer playground for tourists
looking to spend a quiet month in the Tuscan (also called
Toscana in Italian) countryside.
The area is widely known for the major archaeological
finds that date back to Italy's tribal prehistory.
The largest and capital city of Lucca is somewhat unique
in that no cars are allowed in this rather large town
unless you actually live there. As such, it is a haven
for bikers and walkers.
The streets are still laid out according to the Roman
city plan that dates back to nearly the 3rd century
BCE. The walls around the city are intact and give it
a distinctive look that seems to have been gently conquered
(unlike most of Italy).
The city is a quaint gastronomical paradise with a
nearby coastal beach on Italy's West Coast.
