Prato
The city of Prato lies in the heart of Tuscany and it is an ideal place from
which to travel around this beautiful region and explore the marvelous artistic
and historical cities and villages.
That said, though, the city of Prato itself boasts a multitude of attractions
for all different kinds of tourists and is well worth a visit. Its historical
center is among one of the most interesting in northern Italy, conserving a
number of monuments and important works of art.
For example, you can visit the Cathedral or the massively impressive Castello
dell'Imperatore (Emperor's Castle). Its churches are both in and of themselves
majestic works of art as well as repositories for paintings, including some
by Donatello, sculptures and the like, all which marvel tourists.
For more modern art, tourists can visit the many museums and galleries located
throughout the city. Indeed, the "Luigi Pecci" Contemporary Art Center organizes
and hosts exhibitions of the most popular avant-garde artists.
Every tourist should stop into the Textile Museum, in order to understand the
city's history as a well-known textile center.
