Bolzano
Bolzano has been considered by many to be the Capital of the Alps, or the Capital
of the Mountains.
More and more often, it is called the center of alpine history and as proof
of this role, the city contains an important Archeological Museum that houses
one of the most significant and highly publicized archeological finds. Indeed,
it is in Bolzano's Archeological Museum that you can view the mummy of Ötzi,
the Iceman.
But Bolzano isn't merely the home of the Iceman. It is a city of art, of culture,
legends, nature and of relaxation.
Those interested in sightseeing can check out the castles, Baroque-style buildings,
Gothic façades, typical Tyrol architectural styles and the Rationalism style
popular in the 1930s found in the area.
Nature lovers can enjoy walks and hikes in the impressive and breathtaking
Dolomite Mountains that surround the city.
And for those tourists who can't resist the urge to shop, Bolzano provides
for a great shopping experience in the "Portici" area, considered a veritable
shopping paradise.
